Shooting in Counter-Strike 1.6
In this article, we'll learn how to effectively shoot in CS 1.6, which will help you gain a tactical advantage on many maps.
Almost every player, even newbies, has heard about wall-banging in Counter-Strike 1.6. The question is: how do you do it? After all, you can't just download CS 1.6 and instantly become a pro. First, let's look at what wall-banging is and why even experienced players competing in well-known championships and tournaments use it. Wall-banging isn't some kind of illegal move that can get you kicked out of the game. There's no such thing as cheating, per se.
What is a wall-bang?
The term refers to shooting through certain obstacles. This type of fire isn't completely accurate or guaranteed to bring victory. But in certain situations, it can actually help players secure an extra frag, and in some cases, this type of fire can even secure a victory for the team.
In competitions, every team member has extensive experience using wall-banging, as this element of combat is encouraged. Players need to learn how to wallhack not only for attack but also for defense, as they need to be prepared for the enemy to try to score kills this way.
What weapon should I use to wallhack?
Don't just grab any gun and start firing over obstacles in the hopes of hitting a few enemies. Because if you choose the wrong weapon, you'll simply waste ammo without any effect on your team.
Pistols are far from ideal. If you must choose this type of weapon, it should be the Deagle. We all know that with such a heavy barrel, you can eliminate an enemy with a single, well-aimed shot, if you aim for the head. Other pistols aren't quite suitable because they're unlikely to penetrate boxes, doors, or walls. And you probably don't want to waste a whole clip on such experiments.
Using a Deagle, you'll need about two or three bullets to make clear penetrations through wooden boxes, doors, and other similar objects. Other pistols can't penetrate these objects.
If you've played this game before, you're probably familiar with a shotgun. So can they be used for our purposes? Of course. After all, they're powerful weapons, capable of inflicting significant damage on an enemy with a single shot.
It's generally accepted that assault rifles are ideal for this type of combat. This is partly true. They can easily deal with wooden objects. But what about a stone wall? That's a much more complex matter. And you shouldn't rely on assault rifles for this purpose.
Rifles are truly the ideal option, unmatched. If you're not just starting out, but are already a relatively experienced player, then the AK-47 and MKA will allow you to make excellent shots that might not kill your enemy, but will certainly cause serious damage. If you want to eliminate an enemy with a single shot, then you should pick up an AWP. However, it's important to understand that you need to learn how to use this weapon, as AWP shooting is a bit of a mystery for beginners.
You might ask a logical question: what about machine guns? If you're very close to an obstacle, no matter what, you can try firing—at close range, the chance of hitting is quite high.
With a fragmentation grenade, the question is debatable. Is it okay to experiment? Absolutely, but you can't guarantee a precise result from experimenting.
What maps should you use wallbangs on?
It's important to understand that some maps have plenty of opportunities for wallbangs, while others have very few. Therefore, relying solely on weapons would be foolish. As for tournaments, they almost always feature maps where wallbangs are possible. You should also research the locations in advance where this type of strategy can be used. We recommend paying special attention to training so that you don't waste bullets on impossible shots during battle.
As a rule, the word "spam" is placed before the name of a map with shots. The well-known map "de_dust2" has shots. The same goes for "de_nuke." If the word "spam" is placed before the map name, you can safely play on "inferno," "train," "forge," "tuscan," and so on.
In fact, a little practice on special "spam" maps is enough to comfortably play on the original maps and know where to go to make a clear shot. Many players claim that the largest number of accurate shots over obstacles can be found on the map "de_nuke." There are videos online of gamers making numerous excellent shots over obstacles on this map. But the more shots there are on the map, the harder it is to remember them all!
